Kimberley Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (KMS) is a 50/50 joint venture between Sheffield Resources Limited and YGH Australia Investment Pty Ltd (Yansteel). The Thunderbird Mineral Sands Operation (Thunderbird) is located mid-way between Derby and Broome, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Thunderbird is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world and contains valuable heavy minerals including ilmenite, zircon and leucoxene, which are extracted and exported via the Port of Broome.

About the Role
Immediate start, casual temporary position while we recruit the permanent role. You will lead safe and efficient open pit mining operations, manage the mining contractor and tailings storage facility, and hold statutory appointment as Quarry Manager in line with WA regulations.In this role you will:
Key responsibilities
Lead day‑to‑day mining to the mine plan
Manage mining contractor performance, cost, schedule and quality
Oversee tailings storage facility and mining infrastructure
Fulfil Quarry Manager statutory duties and ensure compliance
Provide visible safety leadership and drive a zero‑harm culture
Desired Skills and Experience
What you will bring:
WA Quarry Manager Certificate of Competency
3–5 years’ experience in a similar mining/resources supervisory or superintendent role
Proven contractor management and mine infrastructure/tailings experience
Strong communication skills and solid Microsoft Office capability
Mining engineering or similar qualification (desirable) and prior FIFO superintendent experience (desirable)
